As Durak Hazelnuts, we were featured on TRT Haber for the "Hazelnut Netting Practice" we implement in our model orchards, in line with our commitment to sustainable agriculture.
Through this practice, we ensure that ripened hazelnuts fall onto nets spread across the orchard floor, making the harvesting process more controlled and efficient. By minimizing direct contact between the hazelnuts and the soil, we help preserve product quality and reduce the risk of aflatoxin, while also lowering harvest times and labor costs.
Durak Hazelnuts CEO Kadir Durak and Sustainability Manager Vedat Macit explained to TRT Haber the feasibility of our netting practice—particularly on sloped terrain where mechanized farming is difficult—and the benefits it brings to hazelnut production.
