Durak Hazelnut considers combating climate change a key part of its sustainability strategy. In this context, our company regularly measures its carbon footprint and implements improvement plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Every Child a World Program

At Durak Hazelnut, we believe that a sustainable supply chain is only possible when children are protected and their healthy development is ensured. Our “Every Child a World” Program offers protective measures, educational support, and social activities for children of seasonal agricultural worker families; it actively monitors the entire process from the field to the factory gate to prevent child labor.

Activities carried out within the scope of the program:

  • Child labor risk assessments
  • Information meetings for producer families
  • Education, social support, and guidance activities
  • Directing children to safe areas
  • On-site monitoring system to prevent child labor


This program is one of the fundamental building blocks of Durak Hazelnut's vision to create a human rights-sensitive, inclusive, and responsible supply chain.

FLA (Fair Labor Association) Worker Rights Program

Durak Fındık implements a comprehensive human rights management system based on FLA standards to fully guarantee the fundamental rights of its employees.

The FLA system includes:

  • Producer registration system and workforce monitoring
  • Social and physical improvement support for seasonal workers
  • Rights and obligations training
  • Third-party audits
  • Implementation of improvement plans


This system aims for the sustainable development of worker health, safety, remuneration, working hours, and working conditions befitting human dignity.

Child Labor Prevention Policy

At Durak Hazelnut, we operate on a "Zero Tolerance" principle. All our producers, business partners, and field teams share a common responsibility for the complete prevention of child labor.

Our policy is based on the following principles:

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL AND SUSTAINABILITY POLICY

As Durak Hazelnuts, we, as managers, employees, and suppliers, are determined to do our part to protect the environment through effective and successful efforts within our company. We are aware that only in this way can we contribute to leaving a healthy and livable environment for future generations. To this end, Durak Hazelnuts, in accordance with the environmental purpose and context of all our operations, aims to continuously improve our environmental management system throughout our entire value chain, reduce the environmental impact of our activities, and increase Durak Hazelnuts environmental management performance by:

Adopting and implementing all current laws, regulations, legislation, and principles related to environmental management. To ensure compliance with the environmental legislation of the countries in which we operate, the obligations arising from this legislation, and the requirements of customers, suppliers, and other third parties for whom we accept compliance obligations;
Appropriate technologies and methods that will not harm the environment and will save resources are researched, monitored, and implemented;
Natural resources are protected, resources are used efficiently, and recycling and recovery are increased within the scope of the zero-waste approach. To prevent pollution caused by waste that cannot be completely prevented from our activities, we optimize waste management, reduce waste production, and increase recycling.

To evaluate environmental impacts in our investment processes and manage our investments in an environmentally conscious manner.
To cooperate with relevant parties within the scope of the environmental management system in all our areas of activity.
To utilize energy-efficient and environmentally friendly technologies to reduce the effects of climate change, combat climate change, and increase biodiversity while creating all processes from the design phase onwards.

To monitor environmental performance across all our areas of activity, to continuously improve it, and to periodically report on the progress made, working with a commitment to continuous improvement for environmental protection.

OUR MISSION

The priority of Durak Hazelnut, which takes its power locally and is internationally recognized, is to deliver its products to consumers with the best quality standards with Sustainable Hazelnut Farming.

 

Last year, we continued our project named "Each Child A World", which we initiated in order to prevent child labor in hazelnut agriculture, this year, and turned it into a program implemented by our company in the field of sustainability.
